Blind Kitten And Small Dog Form An Unlikely Bond After Being Adopted

He was a carefree pup. She was a blind kitten full of zest. Together, they were a perfect match.

We all know the classic “odd couples”: pairs with opposite personalities whose friendships surprisingly flourish. Think Oscar and Felix, Bert and Ernie. Coraline and Rocky.

Wait, you haven’t heard of Coraline and Rocky? Let’s change that.

Say hello to Coraline

Coraline, a blind tuxedo kitten weighing just one pound, arrived at the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Salt Lake City from a local shelter.

Right away, the staff noticed her sweet, sociable nature, so they paired her with another blind kitten who was also alone.

Unfortunately, Coraline’s eyes needed to be removed to relieve her pain.

After the surgery, she and her new friend recuperated in a foster home.

This is part of Best Friends’ mission to help all shelters in the country become no-kill by 2025, with fostering playing a key role.

In her foster home, Coraline learned to navigate the world. She mastered walking along furniture and jumping down safely.

Using her nose and whiskers to sense her surroundings, Coraline adapted well. She also grew to trust people, comfortably allowing them to cradle her like a baby.

Presenting Rocky

Once Coraline was healed and used to being around others, it was time to find her a forever home.

A potential adopter fell for her charm and decided to welcome her into the family.

Little did Coraline know, she was about to gain a new best friend: her adopter’s dog, Rocky.

Rocky is playful yet laid-back.

When Coraline first came home, she surprised him with her boundless energy, bouncing off the walls like a black-and-white whirlwind.

However, it didn’t take long for Rocky to see how much fun his spirited new housemate could be.

Before long, this unlikely pair figured out how to enjoy playtime together. Rocky would bring over plush toys for Coraline to tackle and kick around.

Their owner made sure to provide toys that made noise, like jingle balls and rattling toy snakes, so Coraline could engage her keen senses in their games.

Despite their differences, Coraline and Rocky quickly became inseparable, ready to embark on a lifetime of adventures together.
